Gratitude
What an unimaginable year this has been. As we are coming up on the Thanksgiving holiday, I recognize that there is so much to reflect on and absorb. I think about the stories we have heard through the year from our friends and Big Rock families - focused on health, safety, equality, justice, empathy, love and companionship - and we find ourselves humbly grateful for these connections we have had throughout the year. We ourselves have been so fortunate to transition smoothly into working from home, schooling from home, and frankly the doggos couldn't be more thrilled with it all!
As I think about what's ahead, I cherish the role that the puppies have played in our lives and the lives of others. Bringing joy, love, humor, and comfort (oh, and some training frustrations!!) to us and their families. Truly, there is something so cathartic about watching a litter of puppies jumping all over each other and exploring new things. While it remains 'just a hobby' for us :), it's one we are excited to continue into the new year!
We are taking some time to think about how we do things here at Big Rock Goldens. As you know, our top priority is the health, socialization and well-being of our goldens and puppies - this will always be true - and will continue guide our decisions on how we raise our dogs and if, when, and how to have puppies. On the 'administrative' side of things, it's always a tough balance for us to decide how to approach things like waitlists, advance reservations, deposits, puppy picking, managing emails, and so forth - as there's no one right way to do this. We don't want to 'get ahead of our skiis' with booking ahead too far or too many, however we do want to be proactive enough to help families plan ahead (understanding the uncertainties that come with Mother Nature). The good news is that we are planning to bring on some more help, support, resources, and partnerships in the upcoming year to enable our goals, streamline things and help set expectations about what availability may look like. I look forward to sharing more on that before the end of the calendar year.
In the meantime, we want to express our gratitude for our puppy families, as well as the interest and support of many in our community. Happy Thanksgiving 2020!!!
