The puppies have arrived!

Bee is now the proud mama of eight puppies - three girls and five boys :). They were born last night (June 6th) and the delivery went smoothly and relatively quickly!

She was in the first stage of labor for about 12+ hours, pacing around the house and panting. I took her to her whelping box and we just sat...and sat...and sat. Just when I was convinced that there would be no action on the immediate horizon, I went upstairs to get dinner ready. In that time -- I swear it was not more than 5 minutes - Bee snuck into my bedroom (where her bed is) and decided it was time to give birth! I thought I heard her footsteps so I asked my 9-year-old son to check - and he comes running out of my room saying that there was a puppy. I honestly didn't believe him at first (if you have kids you probably know what I mean...they like to play tricks), but of course I went to check anyway and indeed there was puppy number one!

The rest came along without incident, each about half an hour apart. It's a little hard to tell what color each will be - although there is definitely a range. Some are very light (cream or nearly white) like their mama. Others are a little darker gold ranging to red like their dad, Hunter.

The puppies are now happily nursing, sleeping, and peeing/pooping. I'm working on the initial set of individual puppy photos, although it might be a few days as they are still so delicate and I want to disturb them as little as possible.

Over the next few days I will also reach out to those who expressed interest in the reservation list to confirm whether we have a puppy (girl or boy) available for you. I'll go down the list in the order in which we were contacted and consider girl/boy preference (e.g., first pick girl, second pick girl, third pick girl, first pick boy, etc). We will do the picking at around six weeks of age. I imagine some folks will have made other plans already - and that's ok - just let me know as soon as you can so that I can confirm reservations down the list. Also, I know some folks are only interested in a certain color (cream or red) and unfortunately I cannot commit to a color choice, as the 'picking' will happen later. To confirm the reservation, I will ask for a $300 non-refundable deposit to be made within two weeks.

I realize that adding a puppy to your family is a big decision and a big deal! I am happy to talk via phone to provide further information and answer any questions. And while I would love to have you meet Bee and the pups in person, I need to limit visitors for a few weeks for sake of the pups' health while they are still so young. In the meantime, I'll post photos and videos. Thanks for understanding!
